Description

Petition to the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina dating to 1830, in which 87 slave-holding residents of Sampson, Bladen, New Hanover, and Duplin County appeal to the courts for greater enforcement against runaways, noting among other things that the slaves "go and come when and where they please and if an Attempt is made to correct them they fly to the Woods and there Continue for months and years." Handwritten in in on paper.
